Autumn is a beautiful time of year, so despite missing the sunshine and the insects, wandering the Common in October and November is a pleasure, with the ever changing foliage on the trees, and the falling leaves creating a soft and vibrant carpet. In the early morning the mist and lower angle of the sun make for slightly eerie but atmospheric walks, and the dew renders spiders webs particularly photogenic. And in between all of this occasional much cherished sunny days can still tempt the odd dragonfly or butterfly out.
